Water Fun!

Today after Colin's preschool graduation, we headed to the Sport's Park to play in the water. This was Katie's first time going and she loved it! I couldn't get Colin out of the water. Katie looked so cute in her little bathing suit and thankfully she wore her hat the whole time. At first she would run away from the water when it shot out, but after about 15 minutes she would wait for it to shoot up and try to catch it.

This first shot was Katie's introduction to water shooting up from the ground. It got her right in the face. I don't know how I got this picture...just clicked at the right time, I guess.

Run away!
hmmmm...this might now be so bad.

Okay, this is fun! Stomp, stomp, stomp.I love to play in the water!I love her chunky little legs.

Preschool Graduation

Today was the last day of the preschool that I help teach with some other moms/friends. One of the moms, Season, put together a really great graduation program. She dressed each of the kids in their dad's white shirts and she helped them make caps. I had printed off some diplomas. The kids sang some really cute songs. They had cookies afterwards. In Colin's words, "this is the best day of my life!" Afterwards, we headed to the Sport's Park to play in the water fountains. Those pictures are on the next post.

Curly Q

Katie's hair has gotten really long in the back. I have attempted to put it into pigtails but without much success...long enough to do it but her hair is really thin. So I have decided that this is the best look for her hair right now:
I think she has inherited my curls, at least.

Another Year

I celebrated my 3_th..... ummm....birthday on May 15th. Most people don't believe me when I tell them I am over 30, but I think I am getting to the point when I don't want to admit my real age. What's with that, anyway? Thank you to everyone who sent me birthday wishes. I spent the day with my kids doing my normal routine and even non-routine things. I was mostly busy getting a lesson together for my Daughters of Utah Pioneers meeting the next day. The lesson leader was out of town so I gladly took over. It was a lot more work than I thought it would be, but I learned so much from preparing for it. Doesn't that always happen, though? Oh...the night before, after Colin's baseball practice, he and Mike came home with balloons. Mike said it was all Colin's idea. I can't remember the last time I got balloons for my birthday. What a sweet boy to think of such a great present for his mom!

I picked up Mike from work that evening and he and I and the kids went out to eat. We wanted to go to ice cream afterwards, and ended up at Baskin Robbins. I decided that I wanted an ice cream cake. We brought that home and after a 10 minute search for candles, we found a "3" and a "4" candle from Colin's past birthdays. I knew those candles would come in handy someday. Whoops! Did I just give away my age? Oh well!

I got the two presents I asked for...Mike actually listened this year! All in all, it was a good birthday. Mike mentioned the week before that on Saturday we would go out by ourselves, but of course he never called a babysitter. On Saturday afternoon, I called a good friend of ours and they graciously said they would come over and watch the kids. I made dinner that night and then we went out to see a movie and that was it.

Things I have learned over the years (that I have been married) about my birthday:

1. I just need to do all the planning myself from now on.

2. If I want a birthday cake, I just need to make it myself.

3. Just give a list of things you want for your birthday to your husband.

the kids couldn't keep their fingers off the cake...they loved the frosting. I think the look on my face says it all.

Bicycle vs. Mini-van

Mike had a minor accident Friday on his way to work. He rides a bicycle to his job, just 5 miles from the house. While riding with a green light, a mini-van stopped at the intersection to make a right turn, proceeded to make the turn and did not see Mike coming across. The front of the van hit Mike on his left side and knocked him over. He has minor road rash on his left arm and leg and very sore ribs. Thankfully it wasn't any worse than it was. He spent just a few hours in the ER and they released him. He will recover fine, and hopefully soon because we head to Disneyland on Tuesday!

Dress is Done!

I finished Katie's "Minnie Mouse" dress today. We leave for Disneyland on Tuesday.
